South Cotabato bags 2011 CRAA championship tilt

South Cotabato’s homecourt advantage played well for the province’s athletic delegation after it has swept the over-all championship both in the Elementary and Secondary Divisions, snatching the two year dominance of General Santos City to wrap up this year’s Cotabato Regional Athletic Association (CRAA) Meet.

South Cotabato garnered a total point score of 597.17 for both Divisions; 280.67 points in the Elementary and 316.50 in the Secondary Division leaving behind General Santos City with 51 points.

South Cotabato dominates in the events of Athletics Boys Elementary and Secondary and Girls Secondary; Swimming Girls Elementary; Gymnastics Boys Secondary; Archery Girls; Swimming Girls Elementary; Baseball and Basketball Boys Elementary; Softball Secondary; Tennis Girls Secondary.

General Santos City is 1st Runner-up with 544 total points. They dominated in the Baskeball, Chess, Gymnastics (MAG and WAG), and Taekwondo for Secondary Girls; Boxing, Chess and Taekwondo for the Boys Secondary; Gymnastics WAG and RG, Softball and Tennis for Girls Elementary; and Chess and Taekwondo for Boys Elementary.
Cotabato maintained its spot as 2nd runner-up garnering a total score of 388.17 points; 3rd runner-up Koronadal City with 355.17 points; 4th runner-up is Sultan Kudarat with 268.25 points ; 5th runner-up is Cotabato City with 212.75 points; 6th runner-up, Sarangani province with 192.25 points; 7th runner-up, Tacurong City with 139.25 points; and 8th runner-up is Kidapawan City with 105.50 points.

South Cotabato as this year’s host for the venue of the CRAA meet will be the head of delegation for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa in Dapitan City.

CRAA athletes from all nine athletic delegations will join forces to compete in the country’s biggest sporting event, with the theme “ Play for the Region, Win for the Nation”. (PIO South Cotabato)
