In connection with the celebration of Kalilangan Festival and the 79th Founding Anniversary of the City of General Santos, Malacañan Palace on February 8 issued Proclamation No. 421 declaring Tuesday, February 27, 2018 as a Special (Non-Working) Holiday.
"It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of General Santos, be given opportunity to celebrate and participate in these occasions with appropriate ceremonies.." as stated.
The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea by authority of the president.
Kalilangan Festival is one of the most colorful cultural festivals celebrated in General Santos City. The festival name is derived from the Maguindanaon word "kalilang," which means a celebration or merry-making.
