Lake Sebu town to celebrate Helobung Festival 2023 on November 10-11

The town of Lake Sebu is all set to celebrate the Helobung Festival 2023, but this year's festivities will be a two-day event only scheduled on November 10 and 11. According to reports, Lake Sebu is facing financial limitations that's why it's new leadership headed by newly-appointed Municipal Mayor Remie Unggol and Vice Mayor Liezel Tupas-Isuga decided to condense the celebration to ensure the continuation of this much-anticipated cultural event.

The Helobung Festival has been a significant occasion in Lake Sebu, showcasing the Tboli culture, traditions, and heritage. It is also a celebration of Lake Sebu's founding anniversary, attracting both locals and tourists.

Lake Sebu's new leadership comes following the passing of former mayor Floro Gandam Sr. Despite these challenges, the town remains committed to preserving and sharing the Tboli culture with the rest of the world.

The festival will kick off on the morning of November 10 with a traditional Demsu and interfaith thanksgiving celebration. The highly-anticiipated cultural parade is scheduled on November 11. Participants from local schools and groups will don traditional T'boli attire as they dance through the streets, depicting the Tboli way of life through their captivating performances.
