South Cotabato Emerges as a Model for Public Service Delivery, Says MinDA Chief

South Cotabato has emerged as a model for effective public service delivery, particularly in healthcare and education, according to Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Tereso Magno.

Speaking during the opening of the 27th T'nalak Festival and the province's 60th Foundation Anniversary on July 13, Magno lauded the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., saying the provincial government's governance initiatives have transformed South Cotabato into a benchmark for other local government units (LGUs) across the country.

The MinDA chief cited the province's flagship programs on free hospitalization in public hospitals and free education as best practices that other provinces can emulate. Congratulating the people of South Cotabato, he remarked, "What many provinces have long dreamed of achieving—you have already accomplished here in South Cotabato."

Magno also attributed the province's sustained progress to its culture of peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence among its culturally diverse communities, describing these as key pillars of South Cotabato's continued growth and development.

He further recognized the province's Beyond Compliant distinction under the Gawad KALASAG Awards, saying it reflects South Cotabato's strong commitment to disaster risk reduction and management and its high level of disaster preparedness.

In addition, Magno said South Cotabato remains one of MinDA's priority areas for investment promotion in Mindanao, citing its strong potential in agriculture, tourism, and economic development, which continue to attract opportunities for sustainable growth.
