South Cotabato local officials undergo crisis management seminar

At least 68 municipal and provincial officials in South Cotabato underwent a seminar on crisis management in Koronadal City during the weekend.
Josephine Leysa, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) South Cotabato provincial director said, “Gov.Arthur Y. Pingoy decided to hold a crisis management seminar for local official after he attended the same seminar in Manila.”
“Instead of bringing local officials to Manila, Gov. Pingoy decided to bring the speaker here because he believes this is a very beneficial training for the local officials.”
Michael Cowan, an executive of a crisis management consultancy firm and an author on the same topic, taught participants techniques on crisis and risk management; bomb, improvised explosive device prevention, identification and search processes; hostage negotiations; and command post and tactical center operations.
After the training, Cowan gave each participant a copy of his manual on crisis and risk management.
On Saturday 42 participants , including mayors, chiefs of police, local government operations officers, and municipal social welfare officers attended the training.
Participants in the Sunday session were 26 heads of the provincial offices, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and department heads.
Business establishments in Koronadal City also sent representatives to the training.
Leysa said, participants have reacted positively to the training and have expressed appreciation to the effort of the governor to expose them to this experience.
After the seminar DILG South Cotabato will work on the completion of the crisis management plan. (PIA 12)
