FREE Surgical Mission @ the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center

The South Cotabato provincial government and volunteer doctors, surgeons and nurses from the Maharlika Charity Foundation, Inc. from Davao City are now conducting a surgical mission at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center.

Maharlika Charity Foundation, Inc is a non-stock, non-profit charity foundation which renders services to the marginalized and indigenous population of Mindanao, this year they have forged partnership with the leadership of South Cotabato Governor Arthur Y. Pingoy, Jr. who is also a medical doctor by profession to provide free health care and surgical services to the poor and needy  patients in the Province of South Cotabato.

The surgical mission which started last Sunday, September 25, 2011 have already treated hundreds of poor patients coming from far-flung villages in South Cotabato suffering from eye defects like  cataract (including pterygium), strabismus or 'crossed eyes', hernia among children, cleft palate and minor cysts. Aside from the free cost of surgery, the patients were also provided free medicines, foods and free transportation by the provincial government of South Cotabato.

The surgical mission at the South Cotabato Gym will run until Thursday, September 29, 2011. It is also made possible with the help of the members of Koronadal Lodge 209 and the SOCSARGEN Gamefowl Breeders Association.
