DepED Region XII to host 6th Mindanao Educators Congress

With the theme, “Winning the future of Mindanao children,” the 6th Mindanao Education Congress will be hosted by DepED Region XII on March 27-29, 2011 at The Farm, Carpenter Hills, Koronadal City.

Held once every two years, the Mindanao Educators’ Congress is a gathering of Key Officials of the six (6) regions of Mindanao – Region IX; X, XI, XII, CARAGA, and ARMM. This forum is an appropriate avenue of relevant discussion of educational issues and programs with affect Mindanao children.

This year’s Congress aims to: (a) showcase the best practices of every region in Mindanao in terms of its regionally-initiated projects and programs as regards the EFA Goals 2015; (b) discuss relevant educational issues and concerns affecting Mindanao children; (c) share effective strategic advocacy plan on Enhanced K+12; and (d) design integrated plan in attaining the Mindanao 2020 Development Plan.

Along with this educators’ congress is also the “Technical Forum and Recognition Program for Outstanding Mentors” of the Project EQuALLS2 – an educational package given by the government of United States of America (USAID) covering three regions in Mindanao – Region IX, Region XII and ARMM. This program has reached school children through its school building project, curriculum materials, and teachers’ training programs.

Project EQuALLS2 will end up this September 2011 and its Closure Program will be highlighted with the awarding of “Outstanding Mentors,” who initiated innovative teaching strategies. This will be participated in by EQuALLS2 Technical Working Group (TWG) and to be graced by U.S. Ambassador Harry K. Thomas and other Consuls.

This will be attended by all Schools Division Superintendents and Assistants, Presidents of Principals Association (Elementary & Secondary), LGUs, and SSG Federation Presidents of the six (6) regions of Mindanao. (PIA 12)
