“This will be located in the municipalities of Surallah, Polomolok and the City of Koronadal,” Uy said.
Uy is also pleased that other Non-Government Organization partners such as the DolePhil and the Mahintana Foundation are helping out in finding and coordinating with funding agencies so that the project will be pushed through this year.
The Provincial Nutrition Office which offers technical support to the project has formulated nutritious bread and snack foods packed with micronutrients for the beneficiaries. Main ingredients include Moringa powdered mix, monggo, squash pineapple and rice.
Original recipes include Puto Fruto, Twisted Fruitie , Nutri Hot Halo-Halo, Fruity Champee, and Mong Pin Pao, among others .
“We see to it that children will love and eat these food since we have standardized its formulation such that, it should be appealing to their eyes… it’s also creamy and tasty,” Uy said.
Uy added that a “taste test” was also conducted so as the palatability of these breads would pass all the test.
These breads however will not be sold locally and will be exclusively available only to some 5,000 identified pre –school and school children in the province. (PIO South Cotabato/ The South Cotabato Government)
