The Malacañan Palace declared June 29, 2016 as a special non-working holiday in the City of Koronadal by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 1287 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa with authority of the President.
The proclamation is in lined with LGU-Koronadal’s annual tree planting activity, known as the Tree Growing Festival.
Now on its 6th year, the Tree Growing Festival once again encourages Koronadaleños to volunteer in caring for the environment. Thousands of tree seedlings are once again to be planted in different areas in the city's mountain ranges.
The Tree Growing Festival started in 2011 with more than 130,000 seedlings planted in Roxas Mountain Range.
The celebration also coincides with the birthday of Koronadal City Mayor Peter B. Miguel.
