September 5 this year has been declared a holiday in General Santos City as it celebrates its 48th Charter Anniversary and the 18th Tuna Festival
Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea signed Proclamation No. 43 on August 10, 2016 declaring the day a special non-working holiday by authority of the president.
As a special non-working holiday in the city, workers who report for work get 1.3 times their daily rate. Those who do not work on the day, meanwhile, get no pay.
The extra holiday is to "give the people of General Santos City opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion," the proclamation stated.
