PhilHealth releases Php53.9M frontload capitation fund for South Cotabato's Primary Care Provider Network

In a significant stride towards advancing healthcare in South Cotabato, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has disbursed a capitation fund of 53.9 million pesos to the province's Primary Care Provider Network (PCPN). South Cotabato has been designated as one of the seven sandbox sites for the implementation of the KonSulta-PCPN program.

The turnover ceremony was held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall at the Provincial Capitol in City of Koronadal last Thursday, October 26, 2023 and was attended by no less than PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel S. Ledesma, Jr.

"At long last, the wait is over. Just a few months ago, this was deliberated in Congress. We are fortunate to be part of this sandbox site for the KonSulTa program. I am pleased that we are part of these pioneering initiatives… I fervently hope that South Cotabato can set a shining example and become a model for this endeavor", said South Cotabato's 2nd District Congressman Peter B. Miguel who was also present during the event.

Emphasizing the commencement of the program's journey, PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel S. Ledesma, Jr., assured that PhilHealth is committed to sustaining its partnership with South Cotabato's PCPN. The organization aims to refine its processes and ensure that the benefits of this collaboration reach every member of the community.

Ledesma underscored that the release of this first tranche is not merely a financial transaction; it represents an investment in the holistic well-being of Filipinos. The primary goal of this fund is to empower and enable healthcare providers to deliver vital medical services, extend support to underserved communities, particularly marginalized groups, and draw closer to the full realization of Universal Health Care.

He remarked, "This is a testament to our collective commitment to improve the lives of our fellow kababayans… We will closely monitor the impact of our contributions to ensure the best outcomes… To our beneficiaries, I want you to feel that PhilHealth is truly committed to support you and your families. Our team is always here, ready to serve you. Additionally, we have been working tirelessly to enhance our existing packages as well as to develop new benefits. The Province of South Cotabato, the 'Land of the Dreamweavers' with PhilHealth, will weave the fabric of a healthier and more vibrant nation."

Ledesma also extended his gratitude to Governor Tamayo for his dedication and unwavering commitment to the health and welfare of Filipinos. He expressed hope that this event will signify the beginning of a new era in healthcare for the province.

In response, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., commented, "Our province is indeed fortunate and blessed to receive funding from PhilHealth… This would not have materialized without their financial allocation…"

Governor Tamayo articulated his vision of achieving 100% electronic medical records for all South Cotabateños by 2024. He aspires to sustain this program throughout his term and pass it on to the next generation.

"This is our aspiration for our province. It aligns with the President's vision of safeguarding the well-being of our citizens, particularly in the realm of healthcare, a dream shared by every Filipino citizen," Governor Tamayo concluded.
