The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XII recently convened Provincial and Highly Urbanized City (HUC) Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation Presidents and Local Youth Development Officers for a Coordination Meeting, where significant developments and initiatives were discussed.
During the meeting, Hon. Vincent Figueroa of South Cotabato and Hon. Elijah Polistico of General Santos City were unanimously elected as the Regional Federation President and Vice President, respectively. Their election marks a pivotal moment in youth leadership within the region, highlighting a collaborative effort to empower and represent the interests of the youth.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the passing of a resolution creating the SK Regional Federation as the Regional Policy-Making Body for Governance Exemplars for Meaningful Service (GEMS) for SK. This resolution underscores the commitment of the SK Federation to uphold exemplary governance practices and provide meaningful service to the youth community.
In her address to the assembly, Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Rochelle Mahinay-Sero, CESE, expressed her unwavering support for the Federation and emphasized the importance of the GEMS for SK platform in championing the aspirations of the Filipino youth in SOCCSKSARGEN.
The Coordination Meeting served as a platform for fostering collaboration and synergy among SK leaders and youth development officers, reaffirming their collective commitment to advancing the welfare and interests of the youth across the region.
In December last year, South Cotabato Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Provincial Federation President Vincent Figueroa was elected as the SK Representative for Mindanao to the National Youth Commission (NYC) Commission Proper and National Advisory Council during the National Youth Convention 2023 held in Baguio City.
