Governor Tamayo urges unity against outside interference in South Cotabato politics

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. called on the people of South Cotabato to remain united and vigilant in the face of external interference ahead of the 2025 midterm elections. In a recent interview, the Governor confirmed reports that an individual from outside the province has offered to finance local politicians to run against him in the gubernatorial race. According to Tamayo, the offer ranged between PHP 300 million and PHP 500 million.

"Let's unite to protect South Cotabato from intruders. Magkaisa tayo para proteksyunan ang probinsya ng South Cotabato," said Tamayo, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in preserving local governance free from external control.

Governor Tamayo emphasized the significance of the recent RST Day celebration on September 21, which showcased the province’s unity. "The event sent a clear message: we in South Cotabato come together when it’s needed most."

Tamayo also posed a challenge to the people of South Cotabato, asking, "Papayag ba kayong mga taga-South Cotabato ng ganyan?" He warned that external forces are attempting to take control of the province, stating that it is "unity against money" in the upcoming elections.

"South Cotabato is known for its strong sense of integrity," the governor said. "Our people have never been swayed by money. We always choose what is right and who can genuinely serve us."

As the 2025 midterm elections draw near, Governor Tamayo remains firm in his commitment to unite South Cotabato against the influence of outside financiers, urging residents to stay vigilant and prioritize the province’s well-being over external interests.
