Former Congressman Hernandez, Governor Tamayo Attend 2025 Local Elections Platform Forum at NDMU; Shine Miguel a No-Show

Former 2nd District Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez and South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. were among the candidates who attended the 2025 Local Elections Platform Forum hosted by Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), engaging with students and academic leaders on pressing issues affecting South Cotabato.

Governor Tamayo laid out his administration’s comprehensive platform, focusing on strengthening employment generation, expanding the local economy, ensuring accessible healthcare, and promoting transparent and responsive governance. He emphasized that his governance approach is rooted in consultation and direct engagement with communities.

Former Congressman Hernandez likewise presented his vision for the 2nd District, centering on sustainable development, education support, and improved healthcare services.

Throughout the forum, students raised pointed questions on healthcare issues like hospital services, environmental protection, and concerns about political dynasties. Both Tamayo and Hernandez welcomed the challenging questions, stressing the importance of youth participation in shaping public policies and holding leaders accountable.

However, gubernatorial candidate Shine Miguel was a no-show, a development that drew disappointment from many students. Attendees noted that the forum could have been an opportunity for Miguel to address criticisms and lay down her plans, especially amid concerns regarding her candidacy.

Adding to the controversy, netizens pointed out Miguel’s absence as another instance where she missed meaningful engagements with voters, particularly the youth who are eager to hear concrete platforms rather than general promises.
