Serving as Guest Speaker during the official opening of the two-day summit, Secretary Magno emphasized the timeliness and significance of the event, which brought together disaster risk reduction officers, responders, and advocates from all over the province.
“Napaka-timely nitong DRRM Summit na ginagawa natin ngayon. This is the first that we are seeing the convergence of all different disaster management offices in different areas of South Cotabato. Sana nga maging ehemplo at mag-benchmark dito yung ibang mga regions. Napakaganda ng mga ginagawa ninyo dito sa South Cotabato,” Magno said.
The summit, spearheaded by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), revolves around the theme “Building Resilient Communities through The DREAM.” It aims to strengthen the capacity, collaboration, and commitment of all sectors in enhancing the province’s disaster resilience and preparedness.
In his message, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. reiterated the vision of his administration for a resilient and proactive South Cotabato, stressing the importance of risk governance, early preparedness, and community-based planning.
With discussions on sustainable development, risk governance, and integrated approaches to disaster management, the summit marks a significant milestone in South Cotabato’s commitment to building safer and more disaster-ready communities—serving as a model for the rest of Mindanao and beyond.
