Governor Tamayo joined the Philippine delegation to present South Cotabato’s best practices in open governance, particularly its strong mechanisms for transparency, citizen engagement, and anti-corruption.
During the event, Governor Tamayo shared how South Cotabato has institutionalized multiple layers of monitoring and accountability for its provincial projects, ensuring that government funds are spent properly and that the public is involved in oversight processes.
South Cotabato’s model of participatory governance has gained national and international recognition for its effective collaboration between the local government, civil society, and the private sector in monitoring government projects and ensuring honest public service.
The Governor’s participation in the OGP Global Summit highlights South Cotabato’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and citizen empowerment - values that continue to position the province as one of the most progressive local governments in the Philippines.
Governor Tamayo also took part in discussions and networking sessions with global leaders, development organizations, and fellow government innovators to explore partnerships and new strategies that could further strengthen transparency and service delivery in South Cotabato.
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a global platform that brings together reformers and leaders from more than 70 countries to promote accountable and inclusive governance. South Cotabato is one of the pioneer local government units in the Philippines actively implementing OGP principles.
