South Cotabato’s Winning Tradition Continues with Strong SRAA 2026 Finish

Consistency, discipline, and sustained investment in sports development once again paid off as South Cotabato secured the 1st runner-up overall title in the SRAA Meet 2026.

The province’s performance is not an isolated achievement but part of a continuing legacy of excellence. Year after year, South Cotabato remains at the top tier of the competition- either claiming the overall championship or finishing just behind it - proving the strength of its long-term, grassroots sports program.

This year, the province once again demonstrated depth across multiple sporting disciplines, with athletes delivering podium finishes and showcasing strong competitiveness against the region’s best.

Further boosting the province’s pride, Koronadal City emerged as 2nd runner-up overall, underscoring how both provincial and city-level programs contribute to a unified culture of athletic excellence.

The overall championship was won by General Santos City, but South Cotabato’s close finish reflects a program built not just for a single season, but for sustained success.

Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. highlighted that the province’s consistent top rankings are the result of year-round support, from talent identification and training to adequate resources for athletes and coaches.

“Our performance in the SRAA Meet every year shows that we are doing something right. Hindi lang ito pang-isang event - tuloy-tuloy ang suporta natin sa sports development,” the governor said.

He emphasized that sports remain a key pillar of youth development in South Cotabato, helping shape not only competitive athletes but also disciplined and goal-driven individuals.

With another podium finish in the books, South Cotabato continues to raise the bar in regional sports- proving that excellence, when supported consistently, becomes a tradition.
