Philippines' largest solar power plant to rise in Surallah

Nv vogt, a Singapore-based solar power plant developer is set to invest at least Php1 billion for a solar power plant to be constructed in Surallah, South Cotabato.

The solar power facility which will rise in a 20-hectare property located in Brgy. Centrala is expected to be operational by 2015. It will produce power for SOCOTECO-1 (South Cotabato Electric Cooperative-1), the local electric distribution utility serving eight (8) towns in South Cotabato, the City of Koronadal and the Municipality of Lutayan in Sultan Kudarat.

According to reports, once completed the 6.5 MW solar power plant project will be the world’s largest diesel replacement power plant and the biggest solar photovoltaic (PV) power project in the country.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) has already issued permits needed by Nv vogt Philippines Solar One, Inc for the project.
