DOLE 12 launches job and livelihood fairs

The Department of Labor and Employment in Region 12 joined the nationwide press launch of the job and livelihood fairs dubbed "JobsLive" in Koronadal City on April 8.

The JobsLive will be simultaneously held nationwide on May 1, 2010 in celebration of the 2010 Labor Day with the theme "Manggagawang Pilipino, Kaagapay sa Pagbabago."

DOLE 12 Regional Director and Regional Coordinating Committee Chair Ma. Gloria Tango, apprised the media on the highlights of the jobs and livelihood fairs that will be held at the Robinsons Place in General Santos City on the Labor Day.

Activities will include Job Bridging program for graduates of technical/vocational schools to be managed by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); "Libreng tawag" abroad of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) , Diskwento Fair of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).A one-stop service desks will also be put up for pre-assessment of skills, Balik Manggagawa assistance, legal consultations, and profiling of displaced workers due to the Tuna fishing ban.

Other national line agencies including the National Statistics Office (NSO), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the Social Security System (SSS) will also be invited.

On May 1, JobsLive will also be simultaneously conducted in several areas in the region, namely: South Seas Mall in Cotabato City, Kidapawan City Gymnasium in North Cotabato, Protech Center in Koronadal City, and Sta. Clara in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat. (ded/PIA 12)
