OWWA  XII supported by other government and private agencies hosted a Family  Day to at least 2,500 OFWs  and their families in Kidapawan City, North  Cotabato Province.
“I  am happy that OWWA is giving time for us this Christmas. Thank you for  the medicines and free medical check up,” Nasser Guiapar said.
Guiapar whose daughter is in Kuwait for five years now as domestic helper is only one among those who have availed of the free medical check up and medicines sponsored by the DOH, Philhealth and OWWA XII.
His wife is leaving for Syria next year because as landless farmer, it’s not easy to raise 7 children he said.
“With  this medical mission, door prizes and program, may these people realize  that their efforts are recognized by the government.  Blessings may  always be theirs especially this Christmas,” OWWA XII, Dir Abdulgani  Umag said.
The  Chairman on HIV-AIDS Prevention and Control Program, Dr. Melly  Lastimoso from the City Health Office of Gen. Santos also came to  promote the Global Fund’s project for HIV-AIDS patients.
Lastimoso  said that one out of 5 victims is an OFW and to date, they are taking  care identified clients from Gensan and South Cotabato undergoing the  medical treatment 
On the other hand, Dir. Ma. Gloria Tango of DOLE XII said that their agency is always open to accommodate balikbayans who are willing to work again in the country.
PhilamLife gave insurance policies for OFWs who came with their passport while GlobeTelecom granted free cellphones.
Landbank,  BPI and the local governments of Kidapawan City, Cotabato City, North  Cotabato Province with the First and Second District Representatives  supported the same. (HGN)
