More than 6,000 join Philhealth Run in Koronadal City

Congratulations to Philhealth Region XII for the very successful conduct of Philhealth Run 2013 in Koronadal City last February 17.

As early as 4 AM thousands of individuals coming from all over SOCSKSARGEN Region gathered at the South Cotabato Sports Complex for the first-ever Philhealth led nationwide run dubbed as "PhilHealth Run 2013: Nationwide Run for Mother and Child Protection.”

Participants  came from as far as Kidapawan City, Cotabato City, General Santos City, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao and Davao.

Philhealth's acting Vice President for Mindanao Ramon Aristoza Jr, reported during the awarding ceremony of Philhealth Run 2013  that a total of 6,185 individuals have registered and joined the said event exceeding the 5,000 quota set by Philhealth central office and last year's record of 3,863 registered participants. Aristoza also congratulated and thanked all the participants including the different LGU's and organizations which supported the run which aims to raise funds for the protection of mothers and children.


Part of the proceeds of PhilHealth Nationwide Run Koronadal City leg, will be donated to PRO XII’s local beneficiary: the Reception and Study Center for Children of DSWD Region XII, a 24-hour residential facility located at St. Gabriel, City of Koronadal that provides social work interventions for abandoned, neglected, abused and exploited children 0-6 years old.

RSCC is currently caring for 21 children; Six (6) of whom have special needs, two (2) are mentally retarded, four (4) are afflicted with child autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy and/or global mental delay. Of those children, seven (7) are enrolled in school including one (1) in Day Care Center and four (4) in the Special Education Program for Mentally Challenged at Koronadal Central Elementary School -1.
