Mindanao Cosplay Summit - GenSan Leg on August 4!

AMBOX Events and SM City General Santos invites interested cosplayers from South Cotabato, Gensan and neighboring  places to join the first wave of the 6th Mindanao Cosplay Summit General Santos Leg on August 4, 2013 10:00 AM. 

To be held at the Trade Hall, 3rd Floor of SM City General Santos, the first wave of the 6th Mindanao Cosplay Summit General Santos Leg will cater to the participants of the solo and group category.

MINDANAO COSPLAY SUMMIT 2013 - GENERAL SANTOS LEG (1ST WAVE)

Requirements needed for submission for Solo and Group Category Participants:
1.Completely filled-up Registration Form 
2.Contestant’s signed waiver 
3.Parent’s consent (if minor) 
4.Photocopy of ID 
5.Music/audio file of skit in mp3 or wav format 
6.Printed copy of Character Reference

SOLO COSPLAY CATEGORY MECHANICS

1. Solo Category Cosplayers must submit their complete application form on or before August 4, 2013 at 12:00 Noon.

2. The participants must agree to the terms, conditions, rules and regulations of the event.

3. Individual cosplayers for this category must have a skit. The skit must adhere to the time limit of one (1) minute. The one (1) minute includes the setting up of any equipment or props on stage up to the end of the performance. If the performance exceeds to the time limit, a point deduction will be given.

4. The skit must be pre-dubbed. The contestant must submit a single audio file in a .wav or .mp3 format. Failure to submit the audio file on or before the indicated date will be DISQUALIFIED.

5. Language to be used is limited to English or Japanese only.

6. Cosplayers who joined past MCS events in Solo, Pair, Group and Gakuen Battle categories are not qualified to join. However, cosplayers in the past walk-in category are allowed to join.

7. Solo Category Contestant may join the Group Category. Likewise, a member of a Group Category may join the Solo Category provided that his/her status is not in violation with the preceding rule [#6]. However, the cosplayer cannot use the same costume/character for the other categories.

8. Skits are not limited to stage plays – it can be a song number, a dance number, a combination of song and dance, a skill demonstration, or any performance “depicting” the cosplayed character. Unrelated performance will affect points in the Performance provided in the criteria of judging.

9. Cosplayers may choose to cosplay any character as long as it does not constitute hentai, ecchi, or any provocative and scandalous costumes. Real uniforms, either government or private, are strictly prohibited.

10. Original character is not allowed.

11. The organizers and staff are not obliged to assist the cosplayers during the event. Anything that takes time to clean up the stage after the performance is prohibited. Using fire is prohibited. Other dangerous and destructive equipment and props are strictly prohibited. Pyrotechnics is totally and legally prohibited. Participants must present or at least inform the organizers about the equipment and props (including prop weapons) in order to determine its qualifications.

12. Cosplayers must adhere to the weapons and props guidelines provided in the General Event Guidelines. The organizer reserves the right to disapprove equipments and props that are deemed dangerous or inappropriate.

13. Cosplayers must abide to the photo op schedules. Cosplayers must avoid photo ops during the cosplay proper to avoid commotion during the program.

14. The organizers reserve the right to deny entries for valid reasons.

15. All information of the participants, including the skits, will not be disclosed.

16. Criteria for Judging: Each Juror of the Solo Cosplay Category can award:
Character Portrayal - 40 Points 
Costume Accuracy - 35 Points 
Performance - 15 Points 
Audience Impact - 10 Points 
TOTAL - 100 Points
17. The system for tabulating the scores shall be point accumulation system in contrast with the averaging or total mean system.

18. Cosplayers must understand that the judges' decisions are always final and irrevocable.

19. The cosplayers must heed to the rules, regulations, and mechanics of the event. Any acts or omission committed against the aforementioned rules, regulations, and mechanics in any way will be DISQUALIFIED.

GROUP COSPLAY CATEGORY MECHANICS

1. Group Cosplay Category is open to residents within the ARMM and Region XII only.

2. Contestants must submit all necessary contest requirements on or before August 4, 2013 at 12:00 noon.

3. Group Cosplay Contestants must go through a semi-final round wherein Preliminary Judges will determine which entries will proceed to the Grand Finals of the Mindanao Cosplay Summit in Davao.

4. For the semi-finals round, Group Category cosplayers must prepare a skit not more than five (5) minutes.

5. The group may have three (3) to six (6) cosplayers.

6. The group is not limited to one title. Crossovers are allowed.

7. Original character is not allowed.

8. Skits are not limited to stage plays – it can be a song number, a dance number, a combination of song and dance, a skill demonstration, or any performance “depicting and related” to the cosplayed character. Unrelated performance will affect the Performance points in the criteria of judging.

11. The group is allowed to have up to four (4) Stage Hands only. These Stage Hands are meant to act as “kuroko”, not as cosplayers. The stage hands serve the same purpose as running crew. They are limited to the moving of scenery and props on stage, aiding in scene changes and costume changes. However, they cannot play the role of animals, personification of any thing, or other roles which are played not by cosplayers, but by holding a prop.

12. Stage hands are also part of the equipment and props set up for the group. The role of the stage hands is to aid the execution of the skit but they are not part of the skit. They are not supposed to act as anthropomorphic entity on stage. Thirty (30) points will be deducted from the Performance.

13. Stage hands should wear all black, head to toe, in order to imply that they are invisible and not part of the action onstage. Face and hands must be covered as well, if they should appear on-stage.

14. Cosplayers must read the equipment, weapons and props guidelines thoroughly to avoid contest violations.

15. Members of the Group Cosplay are not allowed to join other categories except for the Solo Cosplay provided that he/she has not joined any past MCS events and as long as the skit is different.

16. For the Group Category, changing of members as well as characters during the Grand Finals is not allowed. The Semi-finalist must cosplay the same character for the Grand Finals. They may enhance, alter or modify the costume. The alterations or modifications made on the costumes are meant to “enhance” the costume NOT TO CHANGE IT TO DIFFERENT VERSION.

17. The Skit or performance for the Grand finals must adhere to the time limit of five (5) minutes. The five (5) minutes includes the setting up of any equipment or props on stage up to the end of the performance. If the performance exceeds to the time limit, points will be deducted to the Performance points.

18. Criteria for Judging: Each juror of the Group Cosplay Competition can award :
Costume Accuracy - 25 Points 
Character Portrayal - 35 Points 
Performance - 30 Points 
Audience Impact - 10 Points 
TOTAL - 100 Points
GENERAL EVENT GUIDELINES

1. The cosplayer may choose to cosplay any character. However, there are some titles that are prohibited to cosplay. The costume should not constitute hentai, ecchi or any provocative and scandalous costumes. Real uniforms, either government or private, is strictly prohibited.

2. The cosplayer should not involve any words or avoid behaviors that are inappropriate, whether on-stage or off-stage.

3. Cosplayers must follow the equipments and props guidelines.
a. Equipments and props for the performance are limited to those what the cosplayers was able to bring in the venue. 
b. Making of props within the mall premises is prohibited. Fixing and preparation must be done in the backstage only. Don’t leave any mess after fixing and preparing any props. 
c. The organizer and staffs cannot help you during your performance on stage.
A stage staff will only guide you in setting up your equipment or props on stage. 
d. It is possible to scatter things onstage during the performance, but getting the stage dirty is prohibited. Anything that takes time to clean up on stage is also prohibited. 
e. Using fire is prohibited. Other dangerous and destructive equipments and props are strictly prohibited. Pyrotechnics is totally and legally prohibited. 
f. Participants must present or at least inform the organizers about their equipments and props (including prop weapons) in order to determine its qualifications. The organizer reserves the right to disapprove equipments and props that are deemed dangerous or inappropriate.

a. Live weapons of any sort are prohibited. This includes but is not limited to: swords, knives, poles, guns, sharpened edges and other objects that could be used as projectiles or considered dangerous 
b. All weapons must be clearly recognized as props that crafted, wooden, plastic or be some sort of toy that does not fire any projectiles. Only prop guns that do not resemble actual live guns will be permitted. Guns must be plastic and be clearly recognized as a toy and have no projectiles in chamber or concealed on your person. 
c. All weapons must be carried in a safe and responsible manner. All prop swords must be carried on your side or back with tips facing towards the ground. All staffs extending more than five (5) feet must be pointed upward. 
d. If a prop weapon is a part of the costume, do not swing or point them at another attendee. The misuse of any weapon or prop, such as swinging it in a public area or causing hazards to others, will result in the weapon or prop being deemed unsafe. If a weapon or prop is deemed unsafe for the event, we will ask you to remove the weapon or prop from the event areas or a staff member will keep it in a safe area until events are over. 
e. All weapons or props will be inspected and can either be approved or be rejected before entrance into events.
