LOOK: Penitents carry the cross, flagellate on Good Friday in GenSan

Sharing the following pictures taken last Friday in General Santos City.

On barefoot, two penitents walked the streets  in Purok Malakas, Brgy. San Isidro, one is carrying a wooden cross while the other man flagellate -whipping his bare backs with bamboo sticks dangling from a rope.
For Catholic Christians, Good Friday is a day to commemorate the passion or suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Many spend the day in fasting, prayer, repentance and meditations.

While others do extreme penance and sacrifices to atone for their sins, attain miracle cures for illnesses or give thanks to God.
How about you, how did you spend Good Friday?
