12 countries join International Folklore Festival in Koronadal

Hundred of performers from 12 countries are coming to Koronadal City next month for the first ever Koronadal International Folklore Festival dubbed as “Pyesta Kolon Datal”.

Slated on August 9-18, 2015, Pyesta Kolon Datal will showcase arts, culture and folklore of the participating countries which include Armenia, Slovenia, Russia, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Turkey, Poland, Japan, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, India, Thailand and the Philippines.

Performers from the Philippines will include the UP Filipiniana Dance Troupe, PNU Kislap Sining, Barangay Folk Dance Group, the ECD Dance Company of the Philippines and the Hinugyaw Cultural Dance Troupe of the City of Koronadal.

Pyesta Kolon Datal will formally open on August 10 at the South Cotabato Sports Complex.

There will be 2-hour full shows daily at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center (2 PM) and at the Rizal Park (6 PM).

Participating groups will also have pocket performances in shopping malls in Koronadal and the City Public Market, and will also visit nearby towns and the cities of General Santos and Tacurong for lecture-demonstrations of their own traditional songs and dances.
