Davao City emerged as the overall champion of the recently-concluded Batang Pinoy Mindanao leg held from October 24-29, 2015 in the City of Koronadal.
Team Davao City overtook the host city Koronadal and blazed away in the overall race with a total of 37 gold, 33 silver and 32 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the City of Koronadal which placed sixth during last year's Mindanao qualifying leg held in Pagadian City improved to second place this year winning 33 gold, 33 silver and 36 bronze medals. They were followed by the cities of Zamboanga, General Santos and Tagum which settled at third, fourth and fifth places, respectively.
The Province of South Cotabato placed 8th in the medal tally with 14 gold, 9 silver and 21 bonze medals.
More than 3,000 athletes with their coaches coming from different local government units have participated in this year's edition of Batang Pinoy Mindanao leg.
Winners in different sport events will have a shot at the Batang Pinoy national championships slated from November 27- December 2 in Cebu City.
Batang Pinoy is the government’s grassroots sports development program that inculcates the value of teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and patriotism among young athletes ages 15 year old and below.
