All roads will lead to General Santos City this September as the city dubbed as the Tuna Capital of the Philippines will celebrate the Tuna Festival 2016.
Among the events of this year's Tuna Festival is the 18th National Tuna Congress scheduled from August 31- September 2, 2016 with the theme "Philippine Tuna: Gearing for the Future".
The 3-day event will begin with a caravan on August 31 which will start from Gensan Fishport to SM City General Santos where President Rodrigo Duterte will be the keynote speaker during the opening ceremonies.
Also expected to grace the event are key personalities in the country's fishing industry, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Commerce, and foreign and local delegates.
Among the topics to be discussed during the plenary is the amended Philippine Fisheries Code, the effects of La Niña and El Niño on Tuna, and other concerns in the fishing industry in the country.
