1st Budayaw Festival in Gensan on September 20-24

On September 20-24, 2017, atleast 300 cultural masters from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines will converge in General Santos City and Sarangani Province for the 1st Budayaw Festival.

With the theme "Taking pride in the creative diversity of the BIMP-EAGA region", the 5-day Budayaw Festival will primarily highlight the cultural diversity and promote the rich heritage and culture of BIMP-EAGA member-nations. It also aims to harness greater understanding and solidarity among the multi-cultural populations of the sub-region.

“Buda” is a Malay term connoting blessings, goodness and beauty, while “Dayaw” means celebration or praise in several Filipino dialects.

Major activities of Budayaw Festival include the showcasing of the creative works of  the participating cultural masters and artists from the four countries through photo and visual arts exhibitions.

Indigenous music, dances, theatre and cultural presentations of delegates from the member-countries will be also featured during the 1st Budayaw Festival.
