The municipalities of Surallah and Tupi have earned this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), as announced last Thursday, October 27, 2022.
The Seal of Good Local Governance is awarded by the DILG annually to recognize and reward local government units (LGUs) that perform well in various fields.
This year, the number of criteria went from seven to ten. These includes financial management, being ready for disasters, social protection, health compliance and responsiveness, sustainable education, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, tourism, culture and the arts, youth, and development.
In addition to being recognized, LGUs that meet the minimum criteria will also be entitled to a package of incentives to finance their local development initiatives and access to other programs and capacity development assistance from the DILG.
