South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. strongly condemned the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and eight others last Saturday, March 4, 2023.
In a press conference, Governor Tamayo, who is also the National President of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP), said he was saddened by the pitiless killing of Gov. Degamo and eight other individuals. He also called for the Philippine National Police and other authorities to bring swift justice.

"Ang gustong ipaalam ng mga gobernador na hindi dapat tayo tumigil sa paghuli sa sampu (salarin) kundi dapat maresolba ang kaso at makuha talaga ang mastermind sa nangyari."
Gov. Tamayo along with other governors has set a meeting with PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. this Tuesday, March 7 at Camp Crame to discuss the case and threat assessment among the governors.
He is also set to visit Negros Oriental to extend condolences to the victim's families.
