Considered as one of General Santos City's pillars and political matriarch, Antonino held several influential roles during her lifetime, contributing significantly to the development of General Santos City and the larger Mindanao community. She served as Representative of 1st District of South Cotabato and General Santos City for three consecutive terms, from 1992 to 2001, where she tirelessly championed the welfare and concerns of her constituents.
Her dedication to public service was further demonstrated through her tenure as the Chairperson of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa) from 2010 to 2016, leading efforts to advance socio-economic development and peace in Mindanao.
Lu Antonino's legacy extended beyond her professional accomplishments, as she was the guiding matriarch of a prominent political family. She was the mother of former General Santos City Mayor and South Cotabato 1st District Representative, Darlene Antonino-Custodio.
Her passing marks the end of an era and a loss for the community that she dedicated her life to serving. Lu Antonino's contributions to the development and progress of General Santos City and Mindanao will always be remembered and cherished.
