League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP), Governor Tamayo condemns MSU-Marawi bombing

In a strongly worded press release, the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) expressed its condemnation of the recent bombing incident in Mindanao State University- Marawi City on December 3, 2023. The heinous act resulted in the tragic death of four innocent individuals, with numerous others sustaining injuries.

The blast occurred at 7:30 a.m. as a mass was being held at the MSU Dimaporo Gymnasium attended by students and teachers.

The LPP, under the leadership of National President Governor Reynaldo Tamayo of South Cotabato, called for swift and thorough action by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into this cowardly act. The league is determined to see those responsible for this dastardly crime brought to justice.

In the wake of this tragedy, the LPP issued an urgent appeal to the people of Marawi City, urging restraint and discouraging any inclination towards revenge. Instead, the league implored the residents to cooperate fully with the authorities to ensure the swift and just accountability of the perpetrators. Additionally, the LPP encouraged individuals with any information about the incident to step forward and assist in shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the bombing.

The league emphasized that such acts of violence have no place in a democratic and civilized society. The condemnation of this incident extends beyond LPP, as the organization called upon other local government units (LGUs) and institutions to join in denouncing this senseless act.

As the LPP stands united against the perpetrators of this tragedy, the call for justice resonates as a testament to the commitment to upholding peace and order in the nation. Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, in his capacity as the National President of LPP, reaffirmed the league's dedication to ensuring that those responsible for the MSU-Marawi bombing face the full force of the law.
