“We all have to work double-time,” Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Alexander ‘Sandro’ Marcos urged the national officers and regional delegations of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) during its National Directorate meeting held in the Malacañang Palace, January 12.
The meeting was attended by members of the National Executive Committee, led by its National President Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr, Secretary General Thompson Lantion, and General Counsel Atty. George Briones. Key leaders of the party who joined the meeting include Rep. Sandro Marcos (2nd District , Ilocos Norte) , Rep. Richard Gomez (4th District Leyte), Rep. Florida Robes ( Lone District, San Jose del Monte City), Rep. Primicias Agaban (6th District, Pangasinan ), Rep. Isidro Lumayag , (1st District, South Catabato ), Rep. Teody Tarriela (Lone District, Occidental Mindoro), Mayor Henry Villarica (Meycauayan , Bulacan ), Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano (Pasay City), Secretary Lope B. Santos III and national officers and official delegates from Regions I to XII, BARMM, CARAGA, CAR, and NCR. The meeting was facilitated by the Office of Special Assistant to the President and PFP Executive Vice President Anton Lagdameo
Marcos, who is also the Senior Deputy Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, emphasized the importance of a complete slate of senatorial candidates who share the ideals of the administration.
PFP President, Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) Chairman, League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) President, and South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. accepted the presidential son’s challenge and vowed to strengthen the party and form a strong slate who will banner the same values the President holds.
The PFP, whose National Chairman is President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is emerging as one of the country’s dominant and leading political parties with big personalities from the executive, legislative and local government units recently joining the fold.
Rep. Marcos assured the party of his support in strengthening their political base and underscored the importance of working together swicly toward becoming a political powerhouse. He also emphasized the strengthening and expansion of the party. “Let’s take it all upon ourselves to take the initiative not just in ensuring the internal affairs of the party are in order; we need to make our presence felt,” Rep. Marcos said.
The presidential son took his oath as PFP member in August 2023, formally joining his father’s political party. He has been a vital member of the party ever since, shedding light on the importance of building political capital and expanding the party membership.
Governor Tamayo said that 23 of the country’s governors have already joined the PFP, led by ULAP President and Quirino Governor Dakila Cua. The Governor expects that more provincial chief executives will join the party. Further he reported that the party has already established presence in 60 percent of all barangays nationwide.
In addition, National General Counsel Atty. George Briones discussed the party’s compliance with the Commission on Elections requirements, constitution and bylaws, and new organizational structure. He also declared the replacement of vacant positions in the PFP’s top leadership posts as some former members were expelled due to inactivity, underperformance, and for violating party constitution and rules.
“Now, more than ever, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas needs to prove that it is and will always be an invaluable extension of the Marcos administration as it builds a culture of unity, peace and prosperity toward an inclusive and sustainable Bagong Pilipinas,” Governor Tamayo declared.
Governor Tamayo also discussed action plans for 2024 and announced the party’s roadmap for a more effective membership-building: nationwide grassroots mass orientation and oath-taking to expand political base, and proactive recruitment of local officials, lawmakers, and political personalities to strengthen political capital and advance the interest of the Filipino people.
