The Land Transportation Office (LTO) XII embarked on a heartwarming initiative on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, as part of their commitment to promoting road safety and spreading love across Region 12. Led by Regional Director Melharrieh "King" C. Tomawis, LTO XII Law Enforcement Officers and personnel surprised motorists with both road safety awareness and the spirit of love on Valentine's Day.

As part of the initiative, LTO officers distributed standard helmets to drivers in need, particularly those with old helmets or facing financial constraints to purchase new ones. Alongside this, brief road safety lectures were conducted for drivers, passengers, and other road users, using road safety flyers and leaflets to impart essential information and promote responsible road behavior.

Instead of issuing violation tickets, LTO 12 enforcers distributed goodies including bags of rice alongside information materials about land transportation rules and regulations on Valentine's Day

The gesture extended further, as many female passengers and drivers were pleasantly surprised with roses and chocolates after being flagged down by LTO officers. This act of kindness aimed to brighten spirits and reinforce the importance of road safety in the community.

With road crash incidents remaining a pressing concern in the region and nationwide, participants were reminded of the significance of strictly adhering to traffic laws and regulations. All residents, especially drivers, were encouraged to become advocates for road safety, emphasizing the collective responsibility to ensure safer roads for everyone.

Regional Director Tomawis expressed gratitude to all who supported and sponsored the advocacy, making the initiative possible. The event, under the theme "OPLAN PUSO: Panatilihing nakaUKIT sa PUSO, ISIPAN at GAWA ang ROAD SAFETY" brought genuine smiles and joy to participants, serving as a poignant reminder to prioritize road safety to protect loved ones.
