Official Statement: South Cotabato Governor Tamayo's Health Condition

In an official statement released by the Provincial Information Office of South Cotabato, it was disclosed that Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. was admitted to St. Elizabeth Hospital in General Santos City on Friday, February 2, 2024, due to chest pain. Immediate medical attention was provided, including medications to dissolve a clot detected in a blood vessel in his heart.

To further address his condition, Governor Tamayo is scheduled to undergo Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) this Monday, February 5, in Davao City. As of the latest update, he is in a stable condition, experiencing no chest pain, and maintaining a regular heart rhythm.

In light of his health situation, Governor Tamayo will be on a medical leave of absence throughout the week, and the duration will be determined based on the advice of his cardiologist.
