South Cotabato residents warned of scammer posing as Governor Tamayo

The Provincial Government of South Cotabato issued a warning to its residents and business owners following reports of a scammer posing as Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. The impersonator, identified as Jayson Salazar and using the phone number 09695188423, has been contacting suppliers and requesting deposits to an account linked to Francisco Doinog at China Bank.

Provincial Information Officer Rudy Jimenea confirmed the scam, stating that the individual falsely represents Governor Tamayo's office to solicit funds for purported government projects. Subsequent investigations have exposed the fraudulent nature of these solicitations, with the funds being directed to an unauthorized account.

Jimenea condemned the actions of the scammer, stressing that the Governor’s office does not conduct financial transactions through personal contacts or unofficial channels. He urged residents and business owners to exercise caution and vigilance, advising them to verify any requests from government officials or agencies directly through official channels to confirm legitimacy.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities to prevent further incidents of fraud.
