Governor Tamayo honors cultural icons and outstanding citizens at Tnalak Festival 2024 Governor's Night

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. took to his Facebook page to express his pride and gratitude following the successful Tnalak Festival 2024 Governor's Night, held on July 15 at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center. The event celebrated the province's rich cultural heritage by recognizing three living Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardees and honoring several individuals and organizations with the Outstanding South Cotabateño award for their significant contributions to the province.

"Ating ipinagmamalaki ang ating mga Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardees - Boi Rosie Sula (Lingon or chanting), Boi Barbara Ofong (Tnalak Weaving), and Datu Bundos Fara (Brasscasting). At tulad ng iba pa nating kababayan na ating pinarangalan kagabi bilang Outstanding South Cotabateños, ating kinikilala ang kanilang kontribusyon sa pagpapatuloy, at pagpapalago ng ating makulay at mayamang kultura at mga tradisyon na malaking bahagi din sa pag-unlad ng ating lalawigan," Governor Tamayo stated.

The GAMABA awardees, recognized for their exceptional artistry and dedication to preserving South Cotabato's cultural legacy, include:

• Boi Rosie Sula: Celebrated for her mastery in Lingon or chanting.
• Boi Barbara Ofong: Renowned for her exquisite Tnalak weaving.
• Datu Bundos Fara: Distinguished for his skill in brass casting.

In addition to the GAMABA honorees, several other individuals and organizations received the Outstanding South Cotabateño award for their impactful contributions to the province. These awards highlight the dedication and service of citizens who have made significant strides in various fields, furthering the development and prosperity of South Cotabato.

The Governor's Night is a highlight of the Tnalak Festival, an annual celebration of South Cotabato's cultural diversity and achievements. The Tnalak Festival 2024, running from July 11-18, marks its 25th anniversary and coincides with the 58th Founding Anniversary of the province.
