South Cotabato has reached a significant milestone in economic development, achieving its long-term goal of creating 10,000 new jobs under the visionary leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.
“With the surge of investments in South Cotabato, our goal years ago of creating 10,000 new jobs has already been completed,” Governor Tamayo proudly announced in a press conference.
Highlighting the province's priorities, he added, “Our initiatives in renewable energy and high-value agriculture have unlocked South Cotabato’s vast potential. These efforts have not only fostered economic growth but also provided sustainable and meaningful employment opportunities for our people.”
One of the latest advancements driving local employment is the establishment of an Information Technology (IT) Economic Zone. Governor Tamayo expressed his optimism about the project’s impact, saying, “The creation of the IT Economic Zone in South Cotabato signals a new wave of opportunities. We are positioning the province as a hub for innovation and technology, which will open doors for our youth and skilled workers to thrive.”
Under Governor Tamayo’s administration, the poverty rate in South Cotabato has dropped significantly, from 20% to just 13%. This remarkable progress reflects the provincial government’s dedication to inclusive growth and poverty alleviation.
During the T’nalak Festival 2024, National Anti-Poverty Commission Secretary Lope Santos III lauded Governor Tamayo’s leadership. “Governor Tamayo has woven economic opportunities into the fabric of South Cotabato, creating job opportunities and setting an example of inclusive growth for the region,” he said.
With its thriving agriculture, renewable energy initiatives, and emerging role in the tech industry, South Cotabato continues to pave the way for sustained development and a brighter future for its people under Governor Tamayo’s steadfast leadership.
