LPP holds 7th General Asssembly, focuses on strengthening provincial governance


Provincial governors from across the country convened on February 7, 2025, for the 7th General Assembly of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) at Discovery Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The event was led by LPP National President and South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., bringing together key national and local leaders to discuss priority programs and policies aimed at enhancing local governance.

Key government officials, including Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla and Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary for Operations U-Nichols A. Manalo, presented their agencies’ priority initiatives, which have a direct impact on provincial development and service delivery.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Edwin M. Garcia also provided critical updates on the latest electoral policies and conducted a live demonstration of the new Automated Counting Machines (ACM), which will be used in the upcoming elections to ensure a more efficient, transparent, and credible electoral process.

Governor Tamayo emphasized the importance of collaboration among provinces in advancing good governance and inclusive development.

“This assembly is a testament to our collective commitment to strengthening provincial governance, ensuring transparency, and delivering quality public service to our people. By working together, we can create real and lasting change in our provinces,” Governor Tamayo stated.

The LPP remains steadfast in its mission to champion the interests of local governments, advocate for policy reforms, and foster partnerships that empower provinces to provide better services and programs for their constituents.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all provincial leaders to work hand in hand in promoting efficient governance, economic progress, and inclusive growth across all provinces in the Philippines.
