South Cotabato Wins Big at 2024 National Nutrition Awards, Receives Prestigious CROWN Award

South Cotabato once again proved its excellence in public service as it was conferred the CROWN (Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition) Award during the 2024 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held on March 7, 2025, at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Quezon City. The prestigious event was graced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., recognizing top-performing local government units (LGUs) that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to nutrition program implementation.

The CROWN Award is presented to LGUs that have consistently delivered exceptional nutrition programs for three consecutive years, leading to sustained improvements in the nutritional status of their constituents. This milestone solidifies South Cotabato’s reputation as a model province for effective nutrition governance and public health initiatives.

South Cotabato’s Nutrition Advocates Earn National Recognition

Beyond the province’s collective achievement, two distinguished nutrition leaders from South Cotabato were honored for their exemplary contributions:

• Mr. Rudy S. Jimenea – National Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer
• Ms. Angela B. Frugalidad – National Outstanding District Nutrition Program Coordinator 

Their leadership and dedication in advancing the province’s nutrition initiatives have played a crucial role in enhancing food security, reducing malnutrition, and improving overall health outcomes in South Cotabato.

The National Nutrition Council (NNC) XII lauded South Cotabato’s unwavering commitment to fighting malnutrition and promoting proper nutrition.

“This recognition highlights the province’s outstanding leadership in implementing nutrition programs that directly improve the lives of its people. South Cotabato’s success serves as an inspiration for other LGUs to prioritize nutrition as a fundamental aspect of public service,” the NNC XII stated.
