Tamayo Holds Massive Lead in Gubernatorial Race; PFP Candidates Dominate Early Survey in South Cotabato

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has established a commanding lead in the gubernatorial race, securing an overwhelming 93.7% in the latest independent survey conducted one week into the official campaign period. His opponent, Shine Miguel, trails far behind with only 4.3%, signaling what could be a landslide victory for the incumbent governor and his entire slate under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

Tamayo’s leadership continues to resonate deeply with South Cotabateños, owing to his flagship programs such as free education, free hospitalization, livelihood support, and a governance style anchored on transparency, unity, and inclusive development. His ability to deliver meaningful and consistent public service has not only made him the most trusted leader in the province, but also one of the most influential provincial officials in the country today.

Despite his growing national influence as National President of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Governor Tamayo has consistently emphasized that his heart remains in South Cotabato, prioritizing the needs of his constituents above all else.

Congressional Race: PFP Candidates Surge Ahead

In the 1st District, Congressman Ed Lumayag is leading comfortably, supported by his numerous projects and strong community ties.

In the 2nd District, former Congressman Ferdinand “Dinand” Hernandez is significantly widening his lead over incumbent Cong. Peter Miguel, who is now struggling in the face of multiple controversies.

South Cotabateños have not forgotten that Cong. Miguel was among the lawmakers who signed the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte—a move that drew backlash from loyal supporters of the Duterte family. Further denting Miguel’s re-election bid are persistent issues surrounding alleged campaign funding from politicians in a neighboring province and his close alliance with House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who is being blamed by some as the key figure behind the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte. These developments appear to have severely damaged Miguel’s support base in the district.

In the newly formed 3rd District—composed of Tboli, Lake Sebu, Surallah, Norala, and Sto. Niño—Surallah Vice Mayor Antonio “Toni” Bendita is maintaining a lead over former Tboli Mayor Dibu Tuan. While the contest remains tight, political observers say Bendita’s alliance with Governor Tamayo and support from key municipal leaders could give him the edge in the final stretch.

A Landslide Victory for PFP?

With Tamayo’s massive popularity and strong grassroots machinery, analysts believe the PFP is on track for a landslide sweep in South Cotabato. The electorate’s overwhelming preference for candidates who champion service, integrity, and genuine leadership is evident.

As the campaign period continues, it’s clear that the people of South Cotabato are rallying behind leaders who represent real solutions and unity-driven governance—a vision that Governor Tamayo has consistently delivered throughout his term.
