10 Confirmed Monkeypox (Mpox) Cases Recorded in South Cotabato — IPHO

The province of South Cotabato has recorded ten (10) confirmed cases of monkeypox (Mpox), according to Integrated Provincial Health Officer Dr. Conrado Braña during a press briefing held on Thursday, May 22.

Dr. Braña detailed the distribution of cases across the province as follows:

  • 1 case in Banga

  • 1 case in Koronadal City

  • 1 case in Tantangan

  • 4 cases in T’boli

  • 2 cases in Surallah

  • 1 case in Lake Sebu

Health authorities are currently conducting strict monitoring and contact tracing of all confirmed cases. The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) is also actively identifying and assessing all close contacts to contain the possible spread of the virus.

Dr. Braña assured the public that protocols are in place and that the health department is coordinating with local government units and concerned agencies to ensure immediate response and appropriate medical care for affected individuals.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant, practice proper hygiene, and report any symptoms such as fever, rashes, or swollen lymph nodes to their nearest health center.

The IPHO is expected to release further updates as the situation develops.
