Gov. Tamayo Appointed as Chairperson of the Local Amnesty Board in Koronadal City

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. has officially taken his oath as Chairperson of the Local Amnesty Board (LAB) in Koronadal City, following his appointment by the National Amnesty Commission (NAC).

The oath-taking, held on Thursday, July 31, was part of a significant event that also saw the ceremonial issuance of Safe Conduct Passes to 35 former members of the CPP-NPA-NDF and MILF, now choosing peace and reintegration over armed struggle.

Led by NAC Chairperson Atty. Leach C. Tanodra-Armamento and attended by NAC Commissioners and peace stakeholders, the event highlighted a collective commitment to national healing and inclusive progress.

In his message, Governor Tamayo reaffirmed his strong support for the national reconciliation program:

"Wala nang rason upang mamundok. Panahon na upang tayo’y magsama-sama at maging bahagi ng solusyon sa mga suliraning kinakaharap ng ating bayan."

He emphasized that peace is not just the absence of conflict, but a product of unity, trust, and shared responsibility. As LAB Chairperson, Gov. Tamayo will play a crucial role in facilitating the amnesty process and ensuring that former rebels are supported as they reintegrate into mainstream society.

"Let us continue to walk the path of peace and nation-building. Sa pagkakaisa natin, mas mapayapa at mas maunlad na Pilipinas ang ating mararating," he said.

The appointment of Gov. Tamayo, a staunch advocate of grassroots development and peace, reflects the government’s intention to bring amnesty programs closer to communities—guided by empathy, justice, and reconciliation.
