Philippine Looper Ferdinand dela Merced Reaches South Cotabato

Ferdinand Dela Merced, widely known as “The Philippine Looper,” has reached South Cotabato as part of his historic attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous walk across the Philippines.

Dela Merced began his journey in Batanes in January 2025. His route follows the Pan-Philippine Highway (AH26), covering all 82 provinces of the country, including distant areas such as Jolo, Sulu.

The ultrawalker’s mission is not only to secure a world record but also to inspire Filipinos with a message of perseverance, discipline, and hope. Along the way, he aims to showcase the diverse beauty of the Philippines, from its landscapes to its people.

Communities across the nation, including South Cotabato, have shown support and admiration for his feat — recognizing that every step he takes represents determination, resilience, and national pride.

If successful, his unprecedented journey will etch his name in history and bring honor to the Philippines as home to one of the longest recorded endurance walks in the world.
