The LPP emphasized that its confidence in the President remains firm despite heightened political noise and efforts to undermine the stability of the administration. Provincial governors reiterated their commitment to ensuring continuity of governance and supporting national initiatives that benefit communities across the country.
Before proceeding to Malacañang, the LPP held a Special General Assembly where members approved several major resolutions focused on strengthening democratic institutions and enhancing government accountability. These resolutions were formally presented to President Marcos during the courtesy call.
The league conveyed its support for the review and amendment of the Local Government Code of 1991 to ensure its continued effectiveness and responsiveness. It also backed the constitutional mandate to define and prohibit political dynasties, and called for a comprehensive reform of the party-list system to restore its original intent of genuine sectoral representation.
Additionally, the LPP expressed support for proposed legislation aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in the national budgeting process.
The LPP also highlighted the passage of GA Resolution No. 13-03-25-28, sponsored by LPP National President Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., expressing full support for President Marcos. The resolution urges provincial governments to help uphold the Constitution and safeguard the Presidency from groups perceived to be acting against democratic principles.
The league acknowledged the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance and curb corruption, citing ongoing reforms and the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructures (ICI) to investigate substandard and ghost projects. Investigations by relevant agencies are now underway based on the commission’s initial findings.
The LPP also underscored the importance of unity and coordinated action as regions continue to recover from recent earthquakes in the Visayas and Mindanao, as well as from the damaging effects of Typhoons Tino and Uwan. The organization stressed that these events require full cooperation among national and local governments, communities, and the private sector.
While recognizing the people’s right to free expression and peaceful assembly, the LPP cautioned against the use of these freedoms for politically motivated actions that may heighten division.
The league encouraged all provincial governments to continue promoting peace, stability, and accountable governance, and to work closely with national agencies in upholding the rule of law.
