South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. expressed his deep gratitude to Cebu Governor Pamela “Pam” Baricuatro and the people of Cebu for extending financial assistance to local government units affected by the recent earthquake in Mindanao.
The Province of Cebu provided a total of ₱35 million in assistance, allocating ₱10 million each to General Santos City and Sarangani Province, and ₱5 million each to Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and South Cotabato.
Governor Tamayo said the assistance is a testament to the enduring Filipino spirit of bayanihan, where communities help one another in times of need regardless of distance.
“This assistance comes at a crucial time as we continue to help our affected families recover and rebuild. On behalf of the people of South Cotabato, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Governor Pam Baricuatro and the people of Cebu for their generosity and compassion,” Governor Tamayo said.
The governor noted that the gesture carries special meaning for South Cotabato. He recalled that when Cebu was struck by a devastating earthquake in October 2025, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, under his leadership, was among the first local government units to extend assistance to affected Cebuanos.
“Today, we are deeply touched that the people of Cebu have remembered that spirit of solidarity and have extended the same helping hand to our communities. This is bayanihan at its finest - provinces helping provinces, Filipinos helping fellow Filipinos,” he added.
Governor Tamayo emphasized that the ₱5 million assistance for South Cotabato will help support ongoing relief, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts for families affected by the earthquake.
“As we continue our recovery efforts, this act of kindness reminds us that we are never alone in facing challenges. Daghang salamat, Cebu. May God bless your generosity and the wonderful people of your province,” Governor Tamayo said.
The Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to work closely with partner agencies and local government units to ensure that assistance reaches communities most affected by the disaster and to accelerate recovery initiatives across the province.
