Governor Tamayo Recognized Among Nation's Top-Performing, Most Trusted Governors

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has once again earned national recognition after being named among the Top-Performing and Most Trusted Provincial Governors in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2026, based on the latest "Boses ng Bayan" Index of Governance (IOG) conducted by the RPMD Foundation Inc.

Governor Tamayo ranked among the country's third-ranked national cluster of governors, posting an 83.56% Index of Governance (IOG), composed of an 83.42% public trust rating and an 83.70% performance rating.

The nationwide independent, non-commissioned survey evaluated governors based on both public trust and governance performance, with only the highest-rated provincial leaders in each region advancing to the national assessment. The IOG combines these indicators into a single measure of governance effectiveness and public confidence.

Leading the third-ranked national cluster was Negros Oriental Governor Chaco Sagarbarria, followed by Governor Tamayo, Oriental Mindoro Governor Bonz Dolor, Cavite Governor Abeng Remulla, and Rizal Governor Nina Ynares.

According to RPMD Executive Director and Global Affairs and Political Analyst Dr. Paul Martinez, the survey findings highlight that sustained public trust is built through responsive, transparent, measurable, and people-centered governance. The assessment covered leadership, fiscal management, delivery of social services, public safety, infrastructure development, disaster preparedness and response, environmental management, transparency, innovation, public engagement, and responsiveness to constituents.

The survey was conducted in April 2026, involving 5,000 randomly selected registered voters in every region across all socioeconomic classes. Respondents were proportionally allocated and weighted based on the number of registered voters in every province, municipality, city, and barangay, with a ±1% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.

Governor Tamayo's inclusion among the country's top-performing and most trusted governors reflects the continued confidence of South Cotabateños in his administration's commitment to delivering "Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo." His administration has consistently prioritized quality healthcare, free education, infrastructure development, agricultural support, transparent governance, disaster preparedness, and social welfare programs aimed at improving the lives of every South Cotabateño.

The recognition further reinforces South Cotabato's standing as one of the country's leading provinces in governance and public service, underscoring the province's continuing efforts to provide efficient, inclusive, and responsive programs for its people.
