COA Gives South Cotabato Positive Audit Finding on Disaster Funds

Another positive audit finding has affirmed the Provincial Government of South Cotabato’s compliance in managing funds intended for disaster risk reduction and management.

In its June 10, 2026 Management Letter, the Commission on Audit (COA) Regional Office No. XII commended the provincial government for complying with the requirements governing the allocation and utilization of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) for Calendar Year 2025.

COA said the province complied with Section 21 of Republic Act No. 10121, or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, as well as the relevant COA guidelines.

More importantly, COA found that South Cotabato’s Annual Investment Program, financial plan, and budget for 2025 were properly aligned with its Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan.

The audit likewise recognized the province for ensuring that its Programs, Projects and Activities (PPAs) were aligned with its disaster risk reduction plans, budget, and medium-term LDRRM goals.

“We commended the Management for its compliance,” COA stated.

The recognition highlights the importance of responsible public fund management - particularly funds intended for disaster preparedness, prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery.

For South Cotabato, it is another reminder that every peso entrusted to government must be planned properly, used responsibly, and translated into programs that protect and serve the people.
