EIGHT FORMER VIOLENT EXTREMISTS SURRENDER IN SOUTH COTABATO

Eight former violent extremists (FVEs) voluntarily surrendered to authorities and turned over their firearms during a formal ceremony in Tupi on September 10, 2026, choosing to leave violence behind and pursue the path of peace.

The surrenderees initially presented themselves to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12 (RMFB 12) under PCOL Samuel T. Cadungon. They were later presented to PBGen Alan B. Manibog, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 12 (PRO 12), and South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. for their inclusion in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

E-CLIP provides assistance and livelihood opportunities to help former violent extremists return to mainstream society and rebuild their lives with their families and communities.

Governor Tamayo welcomed the surrenderees and described their decision as the beginning of a new chapter.


“Hindi nagtatapos sa pagsuko ang kanilang kwento—dito nagsisimula ang bagong buhay, bagong pag-asa, at bagong pagkakataon,” Tamayo said.

He emphasized that South Cotabato remains open to those who sincerely choose to change, stressing that choosing peace is an act of courage.


“Ang pagpili sa kapayapaan ay hindi kahinaan—ito ay tapang na piliing magsimula muli.”

Tamayo also thanked the police and military for their dedication and sacrifices in maintaining peace and security in the province.

Joining the governor and PBGen Manibog in welcoming the surrenderers was LTC Dranreb F. Canto INF (GSC) PA, Acting Commanding Officer of the 6th Infantry Battalion, reflecting the continuing cooperation among government and security forces in promoting peace and reintegration.

PBGen Manibog said every decision to abandon violence and return to the fold of the law is a victory for peace. He encouraged others who wish to leave violence behind to take the same path toward peaceful reintegration.

The eight FVEs will receive support through E-CLIP as they work toward rebuilding their livelihoods and returning to productive community life.

Tamayo urged others considering the path of reintegration: “Piliin ang kapayapaan. Lumapit. Magbagong-buhay. May gobyernong handang umalalay.”

The surrender reflects the continuing commitment of the provincial government, police, military, and partner agencies to advance peace, security, and inclusive development in South Cotabato.
