Gov. Tamayo meets newly appointed NAPC Secretary Manny Pacquiao to strengthen anti-poverty efforts

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. met with newly appointed National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Secretary and Lead Convenor Manny Pacquiao on Monday, September 14, together with NAPC officials and staff, to discuss measures aimed at strengthening the government’s efforts to address poverty.

The meeting focused on possible strategies and initiatives that could further improve the delivery of programs and services to Filipino families, particularly those belonging to vulnerable and marginalized sectors.

Pacquiao officially assumed his post as NAPC Secretary and Lead Convenor after taking his oath before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on September 8. The NAPC serves as the government’s coordinating and advisory body for social reform and poverty alleviation, including the coordination and monitoring of anti-poverty programs and policies.

As Vice Chairperson for the Government Sector of the NAPC, Governor Tamayo is expected to work closely with Secretary Pacquiao in strengthening coordination between the national government and local government units in pursuing poverty-reduction initiatives.

During the meeting, Tamayo emphasized the importance of collaboration among government agencies and local governments in creating more opportunities and improving the quality of life of Filipinos.

“Bilang Vice Chairperson for Government Sector, katuwang tayo ni Secretary Manny para sa mas maraming oportunidad at mas magandang buhay para sa bawat Pilipino,” Tamayo said.
