Arts month celebration set in South Cotabato

South Cotabato has already set activities in celebration of the national arts month but activities will not be concentrated in Koronadal City.

South Cotabato Culture and Arts Foundation Incorporated (SCCAFI) President Butch Ferrer South Cotabato’s version of the arts month celebration is tagged as “Tubas Taliambong,” a Hiligaynon term which means “Ani ng Sining.”

He said, this year’s celebration will be different from last year’s because activities and events will be distributed to the municipalities of South Cotabato.

“We would like to reach more so we are working on a mass-based cultural approach and we would like to tap all the people of South Cotabato to join the event,” he said.

The event will start on February 22 to maintain the momentum of the Kawayan Festival scheduled on February 15 to 21.

One of the highlights of the forthcoming event is the search for outstanding artists who will receive cash prizes.

Tupi municipality will host drama festival on February 23 while Tampakan town will sponsor a dance festival on February 25.

Visual arts festival will be staged in Tantangan municipality on February 26.

A culture and arts summit will be conducted in Surallah on February 27.

“Tubas Taliambong” Awards Night, which will showcase a major production of the provincial chorale, the Tunog Pinoy Himig South Cotabato will cap the celebrations on February 28.

Ferrer also stressed that in his term as the president of the SCCAFI, he would like the organization to stand as a real foundation to expand the horizon in spreading the good news about culture and arts of South Cotabato if there are. (DED/SJEDuerme/PIA12)
